    The genus Dendrobium, with over 1500 species, has always been a favorite orchid plant by growers worldwide. Just one look at the flowers and you can see why. Dendrobiums come in many shapes and size and the flowers vary in size from tiny to big. Dendrobium is our favorite orchid. Dendrobium thyrsiflorum is the type of orchid that simply takes your breath away. The flowers grow in a pendant formation you will be reminded of fireworks on the Fourth of July. It is native to Thailand and enjoys bright light. This is definitely an orchid for the ages.
    This orchid is not for the faint at heart.  You should have some experience with raising orchids if you intend to buy this orchid or send it as a gift.  The foliage grows in such a way that only the orchid lover will enjoy.  The foliage resembles bamboo and at times the foliage can be rather sparse with only the flowers to see.  This orchid is truly unique, worthy of an experienced orchid collector.  With proper care, the orchid will bloom faithfully year after year.
