Gorgeous; but buds didn't survive winter transport

I ordered a double butterfly orchid (two plants, one pot), and it is just beautiful with a marvelous magenta color. Three blossoms were in partial bloom when it arrived, and are now wide open. However, the orchids traveled across the country in the middle of winter. Regrettably, about half of the buds didn't survive, arriving shriveled and have since fallen off the stems. The orchid was well-packed, and included a heat pack, but I think the cold snowy weather, which delayed delivery by a day, was just too much.
