Orchid Plants - Blue Orchids
Orchid plants come in many colors, none more exquisite than blue orchids
As long as I can remember, blue has been my favorite color. I remember saying, my favorite color is the color of blue eyes - that light blue color that makes you melt at the sight of someone with blue eyes. Yep, blue was and still is my favorite color. That's why it is a no brainer if you ask me what is my favorite orchid color. Of course, I will say blue! Blue orchids are special flowers because they are rarely seen and the color is exquisite. There is two types of blue orchids. The popular dyed blue orchids and the real blue orchids. Real blue orchids can be found in the Cattleya and Dendrobium orchid family. It is interesting that true blue orchids exist in actual air plants. Both Cattleyas and Dendrobium orchids are epiphytic - meaning they are true air plants, relying on the air you and I breathe to live. Blue orchids are also found in the Phalaenopsis and other species but more so in the Cattleya and Dendrobium orchid family.
The color blue produced by these orchids plants is exquisite. In a greenhouse, where other orchid plants are in blue, the color blue from a blue orchid stands out like the sun.
