Orchid Plants Like Bright Light.
Hot and bright or cold and dim? Orchid plants prefer bright light!
I saw the most amazing array of orchid plants in Rancho Santa Fe the other day. I was nervous entering this house then being confronted with an array of beauty that just takes your breath away, you wonder how a mortal being can be surrounded by such beauty. What I saw was a collection of orchid plants on a windowsill being bombarded with direct sunlight. We all know that no direct sun is essaential to beautiful orchid plants.. that's true.. the trick is to have both beautiful orchid blooms and beautiful foliage. What I saw was a combination of both.. beautiful foliage with beautiful orchid blooms. The location of the orchids were placed where the foliage did not receive direct sun but the orchid flowers did! She had placed paper to shade the orchid plant foliage from the direct sun but allowed direct sun on the flowers. The result was a mesmerizing array of orchid flowers. It seems like the orchid flower looks prettier the second time it blooms.. just stunning. So if your orchids are not reblooming, move them to a sunny location but make sure the green foliage doesn't get any direct sun (if you want pristine foliage) but the flowers can receive direct sun..
